Departments are organized in levels and used across jobs, employees, and reporting.
When to use this
- Create or organize departments
- Build or update team structure
- Build or update team structure
- Fix or clean department hierarchy
Do not use this for managing employees or jobs directly.
Department rules
- Departments can only be created up to lower level
- Only top-level departments can be merged
- Mid-level and lower-level departments cannot be merged
- Moving a department also moves all its lower-level departments
- Deleting a department may affect linked jobs and employees

How this page works
- Top-level departments
- Mid-level departments
- Lower-level departments
You can expand each department to view its structure.
Create a top-level department
- Click Add Top Level Department
- Enter department name
- Click ✓ to create or ⨯ to cancel
Create a lower-level department
- Use the + icon next to a department
- This creates a child department under it.
You can continue building levels up to lower-level.
Department actions
Top-level departments can:
- Rename
- Delete
- Move
- Merge
Mid-level and lower-level departments can:
- Rename
- Delete
- Move
They cannot be merged.
Rename department
Use this to update the department name.
Changes apply immediately across the system.
Delete department
Use this to remove a department.
Be careful:
- It may affect linked jobs and employees
- Ensure it is not actively in used
Move department
You can:
- Move under another department
- Move to top-level
- All lower-level departments move with it
Merge departments (top-level only)
Steps:
- Select target department
- Click Merge
- Departments are combined
- Lower-level structure is preserved
What to be careful about
- Moving changes the full hierarchy structure
- Merging recognizes system data
- Deleting affects jobs and employee mapping
- Poor structure leads to incorrect reporting

- Creating jobs
- Managing employees
- Hiring decisions
